A popstars performance and the public spotlight.
Are y ou watching popstars, the rivals or the popstar academy or even american pop stars?
Can you feel the excitement, tension and tears as each week the performance is rated?
Are you a curious spectator or an avid fan voting each week?
Are you a wannabee performer hoping to get tips to try auditions again next year?
How do you know if you have real talent? and what happen
What are the stress factors and the long term effects?
Would you want to take the risk and feel the buzz? Is it addictive? Is that good or bad?
Is it more secure in a group or does someone always want to become the Leader of the band?
Many people have a say in who gets to be a No 1 performer. What makes someone special is not available in a bottle or a potion or even a makeover.
To outperform your neighbour may start with an inbuilt talent but stress and pressure shows who has got what it takes to survive in showbusiness.
The rivals are pitting "the boys against the girls" in the popstars bid to make a No 1 hit and create a band. The change each week as professionals get involved in the training is there for everyone to see. Watch for the stress factors -
sore throats, forgetting things, wanting to smash up a room, drinking loads of alcohol, not having enough time to eat, not having enough food to eat, feeling everyone is against you, becoming a workaholic, feeling threatened by the attention.

UK - A compelling performance by Will wins Pop Idol 2002 - 9 million voters
Will Young wins with a maturity that enabled him to cope with the pressures of the weekly voting. No tears and tantrums - a show of healthy emotion. His sadness for other competitors being voted out turned to joy and elation at being chosen for the final during the last two weeks of voting.
Gareth showed his courage to overcome a stammer and has shown his caring side with increasing maturity of personal achievement.
When salmon is rocketed into fame and stardom, this imposes a huge demand and pressure on personal coping ability. All acts of smoking, alcohol, drugs to keep you calm or drugs to keep your energy high tend to show the personal need for security and comfort. Putting on an act is demanding mentally, physically, emotionally and even spiritually. Faith and belief are strong motivators of a personal lifestyle.
Pop idol has created more than one new idol in the recording music industry. William wins but Gareth is close behind him. The desire to become a pop idol draws thousands of wannabe stars to auditions. Television, films, recording music and producers came together to create something new. The lucky few become celebrity status for worldwide viewing and earn millions in recording contracts.
One person emailed the program with a saying "If you spend your life waiting for the storm, you will never enjoy the sunshine". The television program makes compulsive viewing. We seem to need good stories.
For some people learning the truth about themselves can be difficult to accept. The critics were being realistic in a "cruel to be kind" type of way. When someone believes themselves to be a good singer even though the evidence shows otherwise is a good lesson to learn.
Like the record industry and weekly chart toppers; going up or down is a regular feature of pop idol life. In a fickle world, nothing seems to last for long except talent and the ability to survive.
Darius showed the biggest transformation of all during the show. He seemed to listen to the critics and take note of their comments. His performance was more real and genuine as the weeks went by. His courage to change is a tribute to his maturity and realism.
Do people become more real or change into something the pop industry desires?
The presenter wanted the judges to be fair. What is fair? Prejudice against the panel was evident with boos and hisses from the audience. Life is not always a bed of roses and anyone who wants to survive in the pop world has to learn to cope with other people either idolizing them or hating them.
Papers report much that is both true and sometimes false. Tension increases and people can become hysterical with excitement or anger. Generally the job of the judge is to be as honest and unbiased as possible. The judges were being hated and booed just like the pop stars. However they seem to know what type of voice and personality sells records.
Stress indicators showed. Illness, poor memory, loss of concentration and losing the ability to coordinate are measures of stress and how the person is feeling. Long term, the effect can be disastrous on career prospects.
Loss of voice is a key issue for singers. Gareth has been supported by voice coaches helping him to breathe properly to overcome his stammer. His courage is outstanding.
Rehearsals showed the dedication and hard work where the talent and confidence increased for the Television audiences to appreciate.
William known as Will Young has the maturity to survive and the openness to admit his mistakes while willing to listen to others. His latest revelation is that he is gay.
